Starcke Camera ID

Verify the camera. Trust the image.

Give every camera a unique, verifiable physical identity.

Starcke Camera ID uses a unique optical security identifier integrated directly into the camera, creating a verifiable connection between the physical camera and the images or video it produces.

Trust begins at the camera.

The problem: visual information can no longer be automatically trusted

Video Can No Longer Be Automatically Trusted

Seeing is no longer proof.

AI-generated deepfakes can convincingly replicate faces, voices and even entire video interactions. As a result, simply seeing a person, object or event on screen is no longer enough to prove that it is real.

This creates a growing security challenge wherever critical decisions depend on visual information — from video meetings and remote identification to surveillance cameras, drones and industrial operations.

Traditional digital authentication can verify users, accounts and devices. But it does not necessarily prove that the image being viewed originates from the physical camera it claims to come from.

As synthetic and manipulated visual content becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish from reality, organisations need a new layer of trust.

How do you know that what the camera shows is real?

The solution: Starcke Camera ID

A physical identity for every camera.

Starcke Camera ID introduces a unique physical security identifier into the camera’s optical structure.

Using Starcke’s expertise in holography, photonics and physical security technologies, a micro-scale security marking can be integrated into the camera’s protective sensor glass or optical structure.

When the camera captures an image, the physical marking creates an optical identifier within the captured visual information.

Unlike an identifier generated by software later in the process, Camera ID originates at the physical image source — the camera itself. This creates a verifiable connection between the physical camera and the digital image or video it produces.

The camera does not just capture. It proves.

How it works

From Camera ID to Trusted Visual Information

Starcke Camera ID creates a verifiable connection between a physical camera and the visual information it produces.

Camera ID

Give the physical camera a unique identity.

A micro-scale optical security marking is integrated into the camera’s optical structure, giving the camera a unique physical identifier.

CAMERA + UNIQUE PHYSICAL ID →

ID becomes part of the image
The identifier travels with the image.
When the camera captures images or video, the physical security marking creates an optical identifier within the visual information. The identity originates from the physical camera — not from software added afterwards.
IMAGE / VIDEO + OPTICAL CAMERA ID →

Verify the camera
Verify the source. Establish trust.
The optical Camera ID can be recognised by a verification system and used to authenticate the physical source of the visual information.

Use cases

Where Camera Identity Matters

One physical Camera ID. Multiple security-critical applications.

Starcke Camera ID can be applied wherever people, organisations or systems need to know that visual information originates from an identifiable physical camera.

Secure Video Meetings

Know which camera you are communicating with.

Add a physical layer of trust to critical video communications and help organisations protect against deepfake-based impersonation and identity fraud.

Drones

Trust what the drone sees.

Verify the physical source of aerial imagery in security, inspection, monitoring and remote operations where the authenticity of visual information matters.

Surveillance & Security Cameras

Make the camera itself part of the security chain.

Create a verifiable link between a physical surveillance camera and the visual information it produces.

Mobile Devices

A unique identity for the camera in your pocket.

Camera ID technology can be integrated into camera-equipped devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, enabling new possibilities for trusted communication and remote identification.

Industrial & Remote Operations

Trusted visual information for critical decisions.

Support remote inspection, monitoring, maintenance and control by providing an additional method for verifying the physical source of visual information.

Banking, Finance & Insurance

Strengthen trust in remote customer interactions.

Add physical camera authentication to video-based identification, customer service and other high-value interactions where impersonation and synthetic media create growing risks.

Defence & Government

Camera authenticity when trust is mission-critical.

Support secure communications, surveillance, remote identification and operational imaging where knowing the physical origin of visual information is essential.

From a video meeting to a drone in the field, trust begins at the camera.

The technology behind Camera ID

Built on Starcke Security Technology

Physical security meets digital trust.

Starcke Camera ID builds on Starcke’s expertise in photonics, holography and advanced physical security technologies.

Starcke Oy is a Finnish photonics company specialising in optical and holographic security solutions.

At the heart of Camera ID is a unique physical security marking integrated into the camera’s optical structure.

The security marking can be extremely small — approximately 0.02 mm to 0.50 mm — and can be implemented as an individual optical code, hologram or another unique physical identifier.

The same fundamental principle used to establish authenticity in the physical world can therefore be extended to cameras and the digital visual information they produce.

Physical identity. Digital verification.

From protecting physical authenticity to protecting digital reality.

Part of the Starcke security ecosystem

From Product Identity to Camera Identity

Starcke connects physical security technologies with digital verification.

With Starcke Camera ID, this principle is extended to cameras:

PHYSICAL SECURITY MARK → CAMERA ID → VISUAL INFORMATION → VERIFICATION

The result is a new trust layer that connects a physical camera with the digital world.

One camera. One identity. Verifiable at the source.
